I
had known PFC Whitener about eleven months. He arrived to my section
a mere two or three days before he went home to see his child's birth.
In the three short weeks that I really began to know him before our
accident, two things became apparent to me. One his love for his family.
The other, for his Comrades, the Army, and his country. My words can
not explain the grief I feel for my "children" that perished
that cold November night, nor can I even imagine the emotions of a fallen
husband and father. I know that he is over watching the family everyday.
He also is not alone. My deepest respects and sorrows to the family,
and PFC Whitener, I'll see you on the "High Ground".

for all the sacrifice you have given to our nation and I like your husband
always dreamed of the military and am now after 15 years still in. I
am very sorry for your loss. I am a veteran of Desert storm served with
327 Infantry also 101st,so I know the pride there is in being a part
of that division. Never let his son forget what his father stood for
and how he felt about what he was doing.
